Our Nursery
Our nursery operates from a purpose built building set back from the road, and has a refurbished, large, safe and enclosed outdoor play area to the rear which also hosts a forest school area. We therefore, offer a safe caring environment where your child can develop and become a confident and happy individual.
The nursery is open 51 weeks of the year, excluding all bank holidays, from 7.00am – 6.00pm. Our daily rate covers 10hrs per day (7.30-5.30) but parents do have the option of extending these hours with an early drop off and/or a late collection. There is a charge for these extra hours.
Working in partnership with you as parents is an important part of our role and we endeavour to involve parents/carers as much as possible.
To achieve this here at Highwood Day Nursery you will find an open door policy exists, that invites and welcomes all parents to spend time with us and your child.
We hold special events such as parents evenings and open days and keep you regularly updated on what is going on through the Ovivio app, termly newsletters and daily diaries as well as our parent's notice board.
A music and movement class - Kimbles - is enjoyed by all children who attend Highwood on a Thursday morning. We ask for a £2.50 donation towards this activity. Our French teacher also delivers French lessons to our preschool children on a Friday morning.
All our staff are carefully selected so that here at Highwood Day Nursery we have an experienced qualified and dedicated team whose primary aim is the welfare and development of your child.
We operate a key worker system where each member of staff works closely with a small number of children and their families. Not only will this system ensure that the child feels safe and settled but it is also another way of 'bridging the gap' between home and nursery and develops our parental partnership
As an Outstanding registered OFSTED nursery the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum Guidelines (EYFS) are followed in each room. Our children thrive when their needs and interests are met by nurturing practitioners. By combining in-the-moment planning with purposeful play and adult-led teaching, our staff use their deep knowledge of each child's development to provide differentiated, age-appropriate activities.
